OPEN-CELLED RANDOM CLUSTER
European Ceramic Work Centre, the Netherlands, 2018
These series of work derives from the project ‘Extended textile capabilities’ which experiments with textiles as support structures for ceramics. The aim was to look for an alternative material with textile qualities and unique aesthetic possibilities. The research tested several textile-like materials and documented its emerging properties when encountering porcelain. A number of characteristics were surveyed like aesthetic expression, roughness, fragility, texture, among many others. The outcome is a series of thin layered ornaments with a distinctive randomly controlled pattern.
